Title Description:
Building, installing, recording, amplifying, sound and space, music and
architecture, overlap and collide, as a concert that reaches out and
incorporates art and audience alike, activating sound and object, buildings
and bodies. Such a concert aims to enliven the building process with a bit
of humor, a bit of improvisation, a bit of contextual performance, by using
the art installation as an instrument for play.
Brandon Labelle understands art installation as a meeting point of various
forcesÑsound and building, musicality and conversation, bodies and context
Ñ as a way to create unexpected relation: to bring together you and I into
a process of meeting,
a concert where difference finds its place within the crowd. For the concert
pulls into its rhythm the given environment, articulating space through
movement, amplifying the presence of others through noise and stillness,
unfolding as a play of interaction, of voices and their excitement. Bringing
together these installations, as documents of audio and processes of
realizing space, has built into it a desire to expand the scene, heighten
the dance, to concert further, and reiterate, with a different tongue, the
presence of the work: to modulate the volume so as to recognize that which
surrounds the object of attention.
