Title Description:
Variations. The richness of life is based on Variations. Casts. Shades. In nature, no two leafs are exactly alike, no two snowflakes... Through clever use of old and modern sound equipment combined with human imperfections, the same kind of Variation can be applied to music, where no two notes or beats sound exactly alike. This music breathes and pulsates the richness of Life.

Three years have passed since young Slovenian producer Jernej Marusic aka Octex fascinated the international audience and press with his first album "Idei Lahesna" (Tehnika / Nika 2002) :
"...what Marusic has done here on his album debut as Octex is two things: one, put Ljubljana on the techno map as a possible hotspot to watch, assuming the Slovenian capital city breeds music like this; and two, place himself alongside similar-minded East European producers-to-watch like Fluxion over to the west in Greece, assuming Idei Lahesna is just the first sample of what this young, talented producer can offer the post-Basic Channel techno community." Jason Birchmeier / All Music Guide (2003)
Yes - the time has come for the second big step to follow Idei Lahesna. But don't get it wrong - album Variations is much more than just following the path of the first album. If Idei Lahesna put Ljubljana on the map of post-Basic Channel production, Variations progresses much further and deeper into sonic exploration. Experiences, sounds and ideas which have been accumulating in Octex's conscience, sub-conscience and laptop for the past three years have already been partly presented live at various international festivals last year - including Futuresonic (Manchester), iSEA (Helsinki), La Batie (Geneve), Nuit Blanche (Paris), Progress EX.04 (Ljubljana) and other.
But - beware!
The misty, heavily processed dub of Variations, sunk in the thicket of unique soundings, crackles and noises is so thick, greasy and interlaced, that it can swallow an unprepared listener. The eventual survivors - they have to watch out not to be waded across by the gigantic, mutated hip-hop beats. The beats are professionally tamed, but one can never be sure when they are going to break their chains and get out of control!
Be brave, but be careful! - you are entering the dangerously wonderful world of Octex's Variations.
