This is the first CD-extra release by Staalplaat: 25 audio tracks and one track for apple macintosh.
Justin Bennett is one third of BMB con, but also composer and visual artist in his own right. Before moving to The Netherlands, he lived in the UK and was a member of Hula and The Anti-Group. In The Netherlands he was a teacher at the conservatory in The Hague and had several commisions for solo work.
One of this is the Cityscape, in which he records sounds in various cities and which is puts together in a collage of audio work. Mind you, these recordings is not just 'putting a microphone in the streets', but carefully recording everything that is present in a city: cars, trams, windows, doors, people. Cityscape was recorded in The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Tanger, Lisboa, Praha and various other cities. This CD is not packed in a standard jewel case but in a plastic wallet with a map.
As an off-shoot of this project, Staalplaat will be releasing a miniCD 'Tanger', in a short while.
