Title Description:
The Belgian artist Anton ®ki has passed a bizarre career of musical activities: from 1991 to 1995 he played the bass in a metal-indus project with the spooky name Noise Gate. After releasing three albums and severaltours through Europe they split up in 1996. One year later three of theformer band decided to continue their work in a more subtle way and started realising slightly jazz-influenced compositions under the name Next G.
It was only two years ago, now known as BQVDM and having followed the sound collective Martiensgohome, when Anton ®ki started his research of noises from our everyday-life sound environment. Ningun K (No Knowledge) is ®ki's first full length release. With his decision to avoid any sound effects or mixing of his somehow familiar sounds and by preserving the original roughness, the defaults, the tape-noise and all other characteristics of the original material he reflects the hectic reality of our postmodern civilisation and interprets the emotions that these noises may cause.

In 1993 Staalplaat's side label Korm Plastics started with a low budget series of compact discs under the banner of Korm Plastics Introductionary Paperbacks. The idea was borrowed from book publishing: a uniform design, low priced, introducing many new artists. The first one was Maeror Tri - and then everybody jumped on the bandwagon. After the last release, M'Lumbo, the whole series was critically viewed and it was decided it was time for a change. Staalplaat hired the well-known designers of CYAN (berlin) and with a new fresh look (sparkling colours, imagery dealing with food) the new series get a kick start with two new releases.
